Working on a running '39 F-20 that I picked up last Fall. One issue it had was the clutch needed 3-4X the normal effort to depress. It engaged/disengaged nicely, but took a very strong leg to do so.
Undergoing an autopsy on the tractor tonight (FYI - - a clutch dissassembly is new territory for me).
1) Inspection cover removed and evidence of a large family of mice had been in there. Nest fibers removed.
2) Clutch pedal linkage removed and yoke on be bell housing is moveable by hand.
3) Removed the bell housing and the throw-out bearing turns nicely, and slides on the shaft nicely.
4) Looking at the clutch itself, it is apparent the previous owner had been there, as evidence of the new bolts holding the clutch to the flywheel. All springs appear intact, but there is some old rust on them and the clutch "shell".
I don't want to take this last piece off the flywheel unless I know there may be an issue....and where.
What are your thoughts/experiences as to why this clutch is so difficult to disengage ?
