If you were looking at a late 53 H and a early 53 SH it could be hard to tell, so I would check that the engine is a C-164. If its a earlier H or later SH there,s several more differences. Date codes would be one thing. Most H except serial # 391358 and after used steel brake covers and all SH used cast brake covers (disc brakes) held on by 5 cap screws and they just had a bolt with spring that screwed in or out to adjust. Starters could be changed easy but only the late H with disc brakes and the suppers came with a starter switch mounted on top of starter and operated by a rod. Late SH used a center housing that the starter mounted with 3 bolts. Rest of H and SH used 2 bolts
