Many of you have listened to me go on about my father-in-law, and wife's grandfather, who I keep alive in their Farmall 100 and 200 I own and love.
Today, my father, Peter A Couvillion, of Simmesport, LA, passed away at age 86.
I want to share a little of a good man's story.
Dad's original service to his Country was in the CCC's,building a dam in California. 1st picture is him at the Louisiana CCC Statue.
2nd picture is of one of his Medic arm bands he wore in the 60th Armored Infantry, 9th Armored Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star for singlehandledly removing 20 injured servicemen from the battlefield, in one battle, while under fire.
The other shot is dad in 1954 with corn grown during a Funks G Hybrid test at his farm near Simmesport, LA. Crop was worked with a Farmall A, manual lift.
There is a shot of Dad with a pair of Shorthorn twin calves from the 1970's. Dad was instrumental in organizing a Gulf South Shorthorn Association for East Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. At one time we had 40 head, all registered, on his 80-acre farm. By that time, we had moved up to a Farmall 240, and then a 424.
The last shot was taken a few weeks ago, Father's Day Weekend, 2009. That is some of my brood, including a new daughter-in law.
The values he instilled in me will live on as I have (unfortunately) passed some of them on to my 3 sons and daughter. Stephen

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Fair Weather Tractor - by Dave M.. No, Fair Weather isn't some rare brand. It's the kind you can't leave out in the rain. Here's how it happened. I had been casually looking for a tractor for weeks. I saw a few 9N's, but they had even fewer amenities than the 8N my Grandpa bought new in '52 with a Dearborn loader. That was 10 years before I was born, so I grew up thinking that 8N was the world's best tractor. Grandpa had greenhouses, with over half an acre under glass, and that 8N did almost everything. It was the only
