All is well till you get to the word "Now". Run a wire from the #1 post of the alt to a marker light bulb (by its self), or the marked end of a 3 amp 100piv power diode. the other terminal of the light bulb or non marked end of the diode goes to the same terminal on the key switch, or the coil + terminal(if it has a 12volt coil no external resistor needed), or to the Key side of the external (ballast) resistor (it needs a ballast resistor if it has the original 6v coil, or a 12v external resistor required coil). This allows the alt to know when to charge, and when to stop charging. The original VR should be discarded (or given a rest under the bench. The green wire is not used. The resistor is not needed if the coil measures twice the resistance across its little terminals than a 6volt coil. It will work well. JimN
