I have a Farmall 504 Diesel that I added a loader and a 17 gpm pump to couple of years ago. I bush hogged yesterday (heavy stuff, 6' cutter) for about 5 hours. When I got back to the shop I shot the tractor at the pump plate and various areas of the rear portion of the tractor with a non-contact infared temp gun. I got 178-190 degrees. Is this normal? I have some small leaks on the 3 point, I know that makes some heat. Also the IPTO clutches are wet and that could contribute to the heat load as well. Considering the tractor only holds 10-12 gallons of hydraulic tractor fluid and only has the power steering cooler, maybe this is as good as it gets. It gets hot like this when pulling a round baler too...
