Drew - So long as the water pump is not leaking coolant, the seal is OK. (Pump seal is completely independent of the pulley bearings - is located out in front of the fan blades). Possible causes for running hot: 1 - Thermostat is sticking partially closed. 2 - Radiator water passages clogged up with scale. 3 - Temp gage is out of whack (unlikely but it does happen....) Suggest beginning by draining the coolant, inspecting the radiator core for junk, and while radiator is empty, putting in a new thermostat.
