If you have had a lot of water in the rear end at one time or another, you may find it difficult to get the splined end of the axle to slide out of the bull gear. By putting blocks of wood or even metal between the bolts that hold the axles into the bullgear, You can push the axle out while unthreading the bolt. Just be careful to not damage the threads on the end of the axle or bolt by having too few threads engaged while unthreading the bolt. Steve
