I'm sceptical that you can even get the clutch back together with the disk in backwards. I deliberately tried it once to see if it can happen, and couldn't. The Pressure plate bolts are too short.
It sounds like your throwout bearing isn't pushing on the pressure plate fingers hard enough to release the clutch. Did you back off the clutch adjustment to disassemble then forget to re-adjust it? Did you reassemble it correctly? You may have to take it back apart and see what is wrong.
