I got my replacement bearing from the local bearing shop. They said it was a direct cross from ST-252 to BCA-1213S. The new bearing is "shielded" on one side. (I just learned the term, it means has a piece of metal on there so you can't see the balls) I called the place and he double checked everything and said it was correct. He said I could pry the shield out if I would like, but the bearing was "correct." What are your experiences? Did IH change to a shielded bearing? Were the shields in both of mine trashed from the bearings going out?
