Jim I hope you don't think I'm nit picking on you. Just want to clear up your answer because I used to make the same mistake. If you look it up IH used FBKM serial # 228082 and up for a change in the cover. FBKM was the letters for engine prefix and means the change was made at engine serial # 228082. If FBK was before serial # it would mean the chassis serial #. Tractor serial # at change was probably 238082. Even though the bolt pattern for the distributor drive housing or where hydraulic pump mounts was changed to the same dimensions as SM through 450 there was around 5 different covers not counting service meter type ones. On the first type if you remove distributor drive and look inside cover you will see a plate or screen with 2 bolts holding it on. On some of those when a SM through 450 type pump is installed with the end of pump shaft made to install a service meter drive gear on it if needed, the end of shaft will contact inside cover before mounting surface of pump makes contact by just a little. Of coarse when no service meter is used its no problem to remove end of shaft and install pump.
