chad from michigan said: (quoted from post at 16:55:55 08/12/09) I have a Farmall A with a really nice woods L306 on it. But unlike the woods L59 I can not put the front caster wheels to the inside mounts because the front tires hit them. I moved them to the out side of the deck but now I have a skelping problem any time I get on an angle where the top side caster wheel drops down some.
I know they used to have an anti-skelping roller but do they still make it? Did it really help out? Do any of you have a 6' woods with it and do you think it is worth the time to find one?
If not I may go back to a L59 deck.
any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks
Chad
Chad,
I have a farmall c with an L59 and mow uneven ground. To cheap fix to prevent scalping. Lowered the wheels of the mower on level concrete and bolted a 2"x6" 1 1/2" above grade. When you get to a high spot the 2"x6"will lift the mover, prevent scalping and damaging the blades. Or it will push the dirt out of the way level the ground. I had ruts in my yard after a concrete truck delivered 10 yards of concrete. To level out the yard I put loose dirt in the ruts. Lowered the 2 x 6 to be at grade level and it was the best grader you could ask for. Using a 2" x 12" works better leveling dirt or filling in pot holes in your yard. Try it. George

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
