I have a Super M with IH fire craters (4.125") and the super m gas head pulling 57hp on the dyno and I have yet to touch the craburetor with my very special carburetor tools... number drills. The question I have is that my brother has a 450 that runs awesome but when we stuck it ont he dyno it only has about 47 hp. We usually tune these on the dyno. The question I have is that i have seen this type of thing before and I am starting to wonder how worn a distributor is and little things like the springs that advance the timing affect operation. Now I know I need to at least clean out the 400 carb because a small amount of varnish could plug it ever so slightly and make a huge difference. But I am wondering what experiences other people have had with this?
