Clean it up as best you can, run it and see how quickly it reappears, and monitor the oil consumption on your motor closely. If you're losing a half-quart on your three hour run for an example, you can get away with it as long as long as you monitor closely and keep your oil topped off, but at that rate you really need to look hard at getting it fixed, as it will only get worse, not better.
If you're only losing a quart over the whole summer's mowing you could let it go for a while if you liked, and put any repairs off to the off season. But keep a close eye on it.
