Koeppel: Tractor Data doesn't know diddley squat. I've never seen a book with so many mistakes. I'm sure if I took some time to dig through some old IH literature I could find a number of options for a 706 including 15.5x38, 16.9x38, 16.9x34 and 18.4x34. The tire will tell you how wide the rim should be.
Personally I can tell you, 15.5x38 wasn't worth a tinker's damn on a 560 or 656. It would be next to useless on that heavier chassis of the 706. If it were me 560 and 656 get 16.9x38 and a 706 would get 18.4x38. Larger than 706 would get 20.8x38 and some of the big ones over 100hp full time duals.
