I don't know a whole lot about them, but here is the little I do know. When looking at engine hrs, 2 four wheel drive hrs are comparable to 1 hr on a mid to large size 2wd or FWA tractor. At least I've been told that is a good guide to go by. Example: If you were willing to by a 3000 hr fwa tractor because you figured it had enough life in it for your operation, you could look at 6000 hr 4x4. The Steiger drivetrain is pretty much indestuctable (as much as anything can be, I'm sure someone will argue this). Hinge pins are one of the bigger issues. Seems like alot of Steigers are in to have those replaced at about 5-6000 hr range. We have a neighbor who has used them for years. I think he's running 2 or 3 now. All in all, I think they are well built tractor.
