I had the same problem with my 400. Seemed like it lost spark. Got off the tractor the one time & didn't notice anything funny 'till I got to the carb. There was a bit of frost above the carb on the intake. First thing I did was remove the inline fuel filter installed by the prevous owner. Didn't do it for about 2 weeks. Then it started frosting up again. Quite a bit this time. I did some research & found out there's a heater block for the carb on the 400's. Attached it & have had no problems. FWIW, I did also perform a 12v conversion. I don't know for sure which solution solved the problem, though. It has been running for over a month, flawlessly. Just my $.02 - Mike
