Vern: No, there is no vent. That is why it's important to fill the system with both rockshaft arms in rear position. Very important also to leave cap off at low idle, then work both rockshafts full stroke several times to expell all air. You may find it requires more oil after doing that, and again do it with rockshafts in rear position.
Failure to do it this way, may result in popping a frost plug type plug behind rockshafts. Not hard to replace, just hard to get at.
