I put a 1000 W tank heater on my H, used the block drain & plumbed it into the outlet for the heat guage with a pipe "T". Works OK, but the heat guage reads a little low. Don't know why it wouldn't work on an M. Look at the thermostat housing, some have a drain plug below the level of the thermostat. It probably would work to plumb it into that plug opening.
