Red, the thrust bearing in the third govenor did have a little runout in it but was the smoothest and tightest of all of them. The severity of the surging didn't change relative (if at all) to the different govenors that I tried (two, besides the one on the tractor originally). There is a difference in the gov. that I took off. The spring has a bracket on one end that is screwed into it's end and attatches to the thruster arm with a pin where normally on a later model gov. the spring end hook just hooks to. What is the diff. in the springs? Would this make a difference? Both govs. acted the same! Still trying. Thanks. Ed.
