Steve: I expect your using double action cylinder for the top link. Double action cylinders actually create their own reservoir in that oil capacity is clse to same on both sides of piston.
If you do add a reservoir it must be above fill port of the touch control so oil can flow by graviety from add on reservoir to touch control. All you need is plumbing between add on reservoir and touch control. The cover on your add on reservoir muct be vented to allow oil to flow from one reservoir to the other. A gallon should be plenty.
