Bare Cubs in good running condition regardless of age are verifiably selling in the $1500-$1800 range. That's all your 1950 is worth.
You might have a case to ask $5000-$6000 if the tractor has been completely rebuilt from top to bottom: All new seals, gaskets and bearings, rebuilt engine, new tires, and a STELLAR paint job. In all likelihood you'll spend that much getting the tractor to that stage.
Good luck actually getting it.
These guys telling you it's worth $5000-$6000 without even actually looking at it are just jerking you around trying to get you to embarrass yourself.
Your hard-luck story won't help sell the tractor, by the way.
