Janicholson said: (quoted from post at 16:15:44 09/27/09) The best info I have is to assure all control valves are returning to neutral. The hydraulics are open centered in that position. The filter can cause restriction causing cavitation and pump damage. Cleaning often loosens grime and the filter needs to be changed once after the original. Some filter systems (NAPA) and others are different, and might flow more, check that option. There should be a latch on the PTO lever that locks it into gear. Check the linkage to determine if it is operational. Do not use it slipping, it is a very expensive error. Good luck, JimN
The hydraulic valves on the 460 are NOT open center. The system is a closed center system with an unloader valve to dump the oil back to reservoir when there is no demand from the valves.
The orifice/screen assembly in the control block allows oil to flow through and open the unloader valve. When any of the hydraulic valves are moved the oil flowing through the orifice is dumped and allows the unloader valve to close. That allow the system to go on high pressure.
The standby pressure on the system should be about 60 PSI. If the orifice becomes plugged or there is too much leakage through the valves the system will stay on high pressure.

Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
