Gents: The first time I changed the engine oil in my 300 Utility I drained out gallons of thin, runny black stuff that smelled just like gasoline. I figure it was about 75% gasoline and 25% dirty engine oil. Although I haven't yet confirmed my suspicions, I have a couple of ideas as to where it came from. I think JEB is on the right track. One way or another, gasoline is getting past the pistons, down along the cylinder walls, and into the crankcase--unless there's another path I don't know about. The two most likely contributors would be too much gasoline in the combustion chamber and/or poor rings/pistons. As JEB indicated, his had too much gas because it wasn't burning properly. If your tractor is running well on all four cylinders (and isn't choked so much that the spark plug electrodes are turning black and sooty), suspect the rings/pistons/cylinder walls. Mark W.
