Loren: All I know about the 16 mower is what I've read. I never had one. We looked at one new in the early 50s, didn't buy as we liked the faster mounting time of the semi-mount. We had neighbors tell us about 1 hour mounting time plus numerous jambed fingers with fully mounted mowers.
With the semi-mount you had a jack stand on each side and a flat plate bolted to drawbar with two 3/4 bolts. You put in those two bolts hooked up PTO and pull rod to front rockshaft and you were ready to mow, 5-7 min. at most.
These rear mounted mowers even the trailer mower all used the same mowing device, thus every model mowed well. Our neighbor had an A-16 on a Super A with hydraulic lift. I forget the model of our semi-mount on the 130. In the same field they were equal on mowing quality and speed. He had two Super A, never took the A-16 off one SA all summer. He raked with the other SA. We mowed and raked with the same 130.
