You did the right thing. I use classic simply because I like it better, it is easier to see if there are new posts and the sequence of replies is easier to see. If my question does not get answered, I simply re-ask it, or give the link as you did. Whether or not it gets answered depends on who is on the forum at the time. I have asked a few questions that I know some of the people here could answer. They simply did not see it. I do like the idea of the modern view bumping the question to the top, but that is about all I like about it. I do use it to edit some of my mistakes, though.
