Holes in hood

I have a 41 A with a mystery hole in the hood. All the correct ones are there air, oil fill, exhaust. This one is over the oil filter and seems to have no purpose?? It looks factory, made smooth and round looks like it was made when the hood was flat. Any takers on this one? I think (my theory) the hood is off something else B, C, other model?
