Hard to say, the only thing 3rd and 4th have to do with the input shaft is the 4th and 5th sliding gear locks on to the input shaft for 5th gear. When 3rd and 4th speeds are changed in those transmissions the 3rd and 4th drive gear on lower shaft is changed along with the 2&3 and 4&5 slider gears on upper shaft. Faster 3&4 can come from W-6, I-6, old aftermarket or new gears made, or something I haven't heard about. IH made a faster 4th for M tractors. Faster input and constant mesh gears would speed up all gears.
