One thing when I was digging a little deeper, the third brush is not moveable in this genny and it is closer than the 3.2 commutator spaces reccomended in the book to the fixed brush. Might this be a potential isssue in the future if the genny's putting out too much?
I wouldnt worry about it, Ive seen different Delco genny specs where the max third brush ranged al the way from 2.5 (OR LESS) to to 3.5 spaces.. Besides a major purpose of the VR is to regulate and limit the gennys output so it should do its job IFFFFFFF its the right one for your particular genny
And how much is too much at the gennys arm terminal?
The open unloaded output (NOT coupled to a battery load) on a gennys armature dont tell you all that much, it increases if the genny spins faster and/or you pump more current through its field windings. Its to what voltage it can maintain and raise that of a battery when coupled up to it THAT REALLY MATTERS.
