I have a '76 Black Stripe 1066, my only International tractor, and it's been a very good one. I was raised on JD, but have never had any regrets in buying this tractor. I think the TA has been replaced twice in the 5753 actual hours that are on the tractor, once by me, and once by the original owner. The problem I'm having now, is the TA engages and pulls strong, in either high or low range, but it will not stay up in high range by itself, without something holding the lever. I was told and taught by the original owner, that it's important when shifting the TA, either way, to snap that lever and not feather it. I've always done so, and told others running the tractor to do the same. But now when I snap it from low to high, it seems to shift and pull fine, but as soon as you turn the lever loose, it slowly feathers itself back into low range. Is there some adjustment that can be made to fix this, or am I seeing the beginning of the TA failing again? Just thought I'd pick the brains of the IHC guru's here to find out what I'm in for.
