The engine serial number is stamped into a slightly "raised" area just below #1 spark plug. The casting codes are found on virtually every part of the tractor that is made of cast iron, and reflects the exact date that particular part was made. Casting codes appear as 6*12*J, which indicates June 12, 1940. The last digit in the code indicates the year. "I" is for 1939, "J" 1940, "K" 1941, etc., but not all letters were used, and sometimes the letter code was replaced with the actual year such as 6*12*47. Find those codes on your tractor and then post back here and someone can help you decipher it. Also, not all of the casting codes you find will be exactly the same. They can vary by a few days up to several months.
