I think I have created a monster. While trying to restore a 300U my dad had, I ran across an old A. The engine was shot (cracked block). Owner wanted to get rid of it, and dad had had an A, so I hauled it home. The steering is real tight (for an A) and there is no whine at all in the gear reductions. I used the components from transmission back and front engine mount forward from the A. That's where the fun started. I used the hydraulic system from an old Super A. I used a 153 combine engine and modified the splined shaft so the thing would fit. I used a 300U pilot bearing in a turned C flywheel. The thing runs like a fighter plane. Dad clocked me on the farm road at 37MPH. Can this engine be turned down to a more respectable RPM closer to the A or Super A? I wanted to put a Woods mower on it, but this thing is a killer. At full throttle 1st gear is like 3rd on the A. Would it have any power for the mower if I did turn it down? I would like to have it to mow the grass at church, but it's just too fast. Thanks, George.
