I had one leaking, low psi crack injector (same injectors as your D282) on my Farmall 504 D188. It was causing fuel knock, surging, and black smoke when it "knocked". What is happening is these are indirect injection combustion engines and when an injector is dripping, leaking, or has a low crack psi, it is "flooding" the cylinder with unproperly atomized fuel.
You may have a timing issue. An IH Blue Ribbon Manual or an I&T manual will have the specs.
Here are some pics of my injectors. After 48 years, 3 were still factory spec (1000 psi) and one was (150 psi). I thought it was going to throw a rod on every knock. Mine was RPM sensitive. Wide open it was ok most of the time. Lower RPM'S I'd get the knock.

The #4 (wet one) was the leaker. A gasser with a dead cylinder runs better than a leaking injector on diesel.
