genos - it looks like you might be right. I went back and looked the exploded view on the EATON PDF file that gleenster sent me and compared to the way the other seals look it could be flat. The parts listing calls for NO. 5 - quad seal. Thanks for the info - this is my first time into one these generators and I welcome all the help I can get. James
