I want to thank everyone for the great comments about this and no hard feeling toward anyone at all. When I found this tractor in PA about six years ago. Bought it and before I started working on it. I talked to gentleman who had been working in a IH dealer ship for over 50 year. I asked about the seat and he stated they were sold at IH dealerships across the country. They also installed them on their customers tractor also. I painted the tractor with IH Red enamel in my garage. People have asked me why did I painted the fan belt? The books that I have read that when the tractors came down the assembly line they sprayed everything except the regulator, magneto, distributor cap and wires. The generator should be red also. If it is black that means there was a problem with it and it was taken off and repaired in their shop and painted black and put back on a tractor. I am a firm believer in keeping it in original condition down to the correct water hose clamps and wire loom. People ask me why I haven't switched over to 12 volts? It didn't come out with a 12 volt system. I have ridden tractor in 3 tractor rides over 50 miles each the past three years and tractor runs great. I have received a lot of help from everyone on this forum when making sure I was doing it right. Thanks for all the comments and concerns. That is what I love about having a place like this to come and talk with others about old tractors. If I can be of any help to anyone. That is what I want.
