Swap the solid copper plug wires RF surpression "resistor" wires. Don't forget the coil wire!
If that's not enough replace the 3116 plugs with a set of resistor plugs (Autolite 388 or equiv).
Unlikely the alternator is causing the problem. Most alternators are equipped with an internal RF capacitor for this purpose. However there's no harm in adding an auxiliary capacitor on the alternator output. Go to the parts store or Radio Shack and ask for a "car radio static capacitor".

Incidentally I experience the same problem with the TV (also AM radio...) whenever a couple different Harley motorcycles roll by on the street. They make their presence known 200 - 300 yards away.
