The disc I pull with my A is at least six feet. I usually weight it good, too. I'd make sure there were no big saplings in the field before doing it. They might give you a hard time. I always disc after I plow, not before. You could disc once before plowing to knock down weeds and stuff, though. There's no harm to that if you have the time. Big rocks will give the plow trouble, too.
