Jim, Never thought that a worn needle bearing would do this but, yes, this may certainly happen. Thanks for your insight. In a Super A transmission and rear end, however, there are no needle bearings that I know of. There is a roller bearing at the differential end of the transmission countershaft (the output shaft of the transmission). (The other bearings are ball bearings.) Could a roller bearing (with cylindrical rollers) also jam? Thanks, Hendrik.
