When I picked it up the engine was loose, missing the carb, wrong magneto on it and it was flipped around. When I pulled the head I found the sleeves were not in the best shape, they were rather worn out, and the #4 piston was missing the entire skirt on the bottom. So I ended up getting better pistons and sleeves out of a parts tractor I also acquired along with some other parts for it from the same friend.
Anyways here are some pictures of the progress I have made so far
Thanks for the pics, very interesting, but I do NOT understand that clutch!! I grew up "on" a regular (I'm 61) on our small family place. Used to scoot my butt up on the seat, and clamp my legs around the wheel to hang on. Dad put a flywheel on the coupler between the engine/ trans and added an old Ford starter, gen, lights, and belt drive pump with a real nice snow plow. That same blade--with some damage--was in use up to about 10 yrs ago on another tractor.
