Wendell, In this Economic climate I think it is a good decision. Not having a major capital outlay now is smart! Unless it is absolutely necessary for you to carry on your Farming activities. For the last 4 yrs are so I have had the pleasure of running a JD4230 which is a 4020 in 30 Series Tin. I have a 73 966, Both have their Strong points and Short comings. You have not said if your 4020 is a Straight 8 Speed standard or a Power shift! The 4230 I have ran is an ol Straight 8 Speed This tractor is really sweet on a 15 ft Batwing Shredder, Where I still prefer My 966 on All tillage activities Just my thoughts here. Take care! Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
