I am in the process of putting live hydraulics on my 1940 Farmall H. It does not have a belly pump. It is a "distillate" model, so I built a tank to hold the hydraulic fluid and mounted it where the distillate tank was mounted. I had to change the 1/8 inch plate on the front of the block and also the cover plate to get the bolt pattern correct for the pump. I don't think you need a threaded fitting on the suction side of the pump. I plan to just use hose clamps on mine. It is gravity fed as I understand it. The tank got painted today and will be installed in the morning. Tomorrow I will get the hoses I need and hook it up. I would give you a picture if I knew how?
