Have you tried to see if its in time yet. The gov has teeth on the drive and you could have stripped and jumped a tooth or so but it just dont sound like thats the peoblem. Check to make sure when #1 is on compression the rotor is lined you with the tower thats the only way you will know if it jumped time without tearing engine down. You can see the piston with a good lite when it is at the top of compression stroke then check the rotor.
