Thanks for the info - I agree with returning it, but it's to late for that. This is my dad's tractor and he bought this starter several years ago and it's never been quite right since he put it on. I was thinking of refubing the old/original starter with the guts of the new, but the old one has some problems with connections to the field coils. I might be taking it to a repair shop. I got to get her going because this is going to be my snow plow. Thanks, Keith
