Gary the converter has a large male gear that goes into the back of your flywheel (female ) . The converter should stay with the trans ,just take your bolts around the bell out and it will come apart. ps We always put bars leak in a 300/400 series first to just see if it will stop , but were kinda cheap too. Mine was going the other way it was putting oil in the radiator but it had a new cooler , I put cascade in it about 4 times with water then drained every nite after a good work out . Finally got it cleaned out.
