But Gene Bender has a point also.
I have two original IH300U with 6v systems and they start fine in 20F weather.
I had a 39H with 6v and a mag and it started everytime.
I am not a fan of converting if you don't have a problem. ESPECIALLY if you have a magneto system. Mags that are hot and in good condition are meant to turn over slow so the impulse coupler kicks in. Turning two fast will defeat the purpose of the coupler. I swore many times that my H was not going to turn fast enough too start but it always did. One time I did have problems starting it and I had the mag rebuilt and never had another problem.
