I'm sorry FarmallJoe I didn't realize what part you were talking about, I thought you were just talking about removing the bolts from the flywheel housing. Now I realize you were probably talking about the ones on the shaft itself.
As for the two bolts on the shaft itself I didn't take those off, I actually took in the whole starter to get rebuilt at a local shop that does just that since my starter was in pretty bad shape from sitting so long as you'll see from the pic:
Maybe if you spray some Breakaway on there and can get it in a vice somehow and get at it with an open ended wrench or a good socket. I'm going to pick up my rebuilt starter tomorrow and I can ask that guy if he has any input since he has some experience with them and get back to you.
