I guess I am the fool in some posts as I only have first hand experience on three machines. I have only ran a straight pipe on an H, SMTA, and GASP>>>MD. (If you remember the original post it said that was where you would really see the problems) I always pull/push (I don't remember) the decompression lever back to diesel when I shut it down to help ensure good valve seating and "proper warping." I also based this assumption off of watching about 15 IH tractors in our pulling club not have any problems with warped valves. This was info was inaccurate in some peoples minds.
I agree, there can be too many "experts" that go off of what they heard on this fourm and most other fourms for that matter. This is one reason I haven't posted my "MD Crankcase Dilution" question for over three years on the forum. (See it below if you have some first hand experience :D ) I probably came off as arrogant, especially in type, by saying don't tell me it's the lift pump bc I changed it. The problem is so many of these "experts" heard somebody had a problem with a lift pump on the only MD in the county so that HAS to be the problem with crankcase dilution EVERY TIME.
So the lower bolster bushing? All three tractors have terrible front ends. I do not have a 360 gear, but I do know of one (and only one) SM with it. When this guy got the tractor he called me and asked why it did that. I said, beats me bc none of mine do it!
BTW, Independence also sucks. Still too many hills!
