Do NOT use advertisments such as the photo ads here as an appraisal unless you intend to own it for a very long time. There are appropriately valued items in ads and I have bought tractors here, but there are also a lot of speculators and they will distort your perception of the tractors worth. Auction results are the best determination of value but even then you have to drop the excessively high and low numbers and then average the rest. You also need to be very honest with yourself when comparing tractors that have sold with what you have in terms of condition and parts/labor required. Search e-bay for completed sales and attend a few auctions in your area. Compare these with the ads and see what the results are. Look at the big bucks items on your tractor (tires for example) and ses how it stacks up against what has actually sold in your region.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
