All, replaced the tilt cylinders on my IH 460U loader with new ones (bucket bushings were shot beyond belief and I bent a rod). The bucket is rebushed, the cylinders new.
When I was working on the system I had tilt up and down reversed...after I filled up all the lines. So I had to swap 2 lines, top of the valve body seemed easiest.
So I had sort of a milky yellow hydraulic fluid come out. Appeared to either have lots of air or have emulsified water. The air I'm not worried about but the possibility of water I am.
The two ideas are to continue to keep using the tractor with the idea that I'll eventually get the hydraulic fluid warm enough to "burn" off some of the water. I could also crack the trans drain plug and see what drips out but I'm not sure how long it takes for the water to settle back out after it has been run and presumably emulsified.
Lastly, I did pour 5 gallons of brand new hy-tran oil in (Mystik JT5 from TSC if it matters - the more expensive version) when I refurbed the tilt cylinders. At present, loader and 3 point hydraulics work perfectly as far as I can tell, very strong on both accounts.
Thoughts and advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.
