Im not sure that Jb would do the job it might work due to the fact that the cooling system is not pressurized But cast Iron is decieving stuff and the crack might go much further than it appears you should trace the crack and clean all the paint off at least six inches in the direction of the crack Welding would be a better solution However cast iron should be heated to several hundred degrees at the region of the crack in order to burn out any moisture(You will need to drain the block)and a special high nickle rod must be used you can buy these at any welding supply shop you should only need a couple I would try JB first (cheap and easy)Dont forget clean and very dry!! hope this helps!
