Marv - Really don't think you need a fuse. The alternator itself is inherently current limiting - even on a dead short it will supply no more than it's rated current. (When GM installed these alternators in their cars there was no fuse in the output line from the alternator.) Just make sure you've got the fuse in the headlight circuit and you should be OK. Also make sure the alternator to ammeter wire is heavy enough - no smaller than AWG #10. Bob M
